Charter 1-20-2012 w/ John and Rich

Today I had one of my regular clients John and his buddy Rich. John had never caught a sheephead before so we started out looking for those. We did not have any luck but we did locate some nice redfish. We also had some big ones on that broke us off on the docks. We decided to go look for some redfish and trout and we found them. We caught a bunch of both with some flounder and bluefish thrown in the mix. I had one last spot that I wanted to see if I could get John a sheephead. Second cast and the drag was screaming. He never got his sheephead but he got a huge over slot redfish that gave him a great fight on ten pound test. What a great day of fishing. I will get him that sheephead soon though.

Charter 1-13-2012 w/ Connie and Jon

Today I took Connie and John out for a little fishing. They are some friends of ours from New York. The tide was a little higher and we only had a little while so we went after some blackdrum, trout and sheephead. Well we found all three. we were able to get some blackdrum but they were all a little small. We then moved on to catch some trout. Connie had the biggest one at 18". They were catching either a trout or a bluefish on every cast. We then moved on to catch some dinner. They kept 4 nice sheephead for the icebox. Connie had on a huge one that finally pulled the hook. After fishing we went over to the Conch House and had them cook up a great dinner so Connie and John could see what some great fresh Florida fish taste like. Thanks again and what a fun day of fishing.

Charter 1-10 2012 w/ Steve and his brother

Today I had Steve and his brother out. It was a little tougher bite than it had been in a few weeks. We had a big front on the way and higher tides so I guess that the fish were a little less active. We started the day catching a few smaller bluefish and trout. Once the tide got a little lower we were able to get on a good redfish bite. We were catch redfish from 15-17" on every cast. We already had 1 keeper redfish and 1 trout in the box but they were hoping to get another one. We left that location in search of some bigger redfish. We humped up a school of some really nice redfish but they just were not interested. We stopped at one more place and we were able to catch a handful of some really nice redfish. All in all it was a fun day on the water but the fish made us work for it.

Fun Fishing 1-09-2012 w/ Brian

I had another day off before this little pop so Brian and I went to throw the long rod. I caught my first fish on fly 2 days ago so I was looking to upgrade a little. We started out poling around the flats casting to some large schools of redfish. We did not have any takers so we went and caught some redfish and trout on spinning gear. Once the tide got a little lower we decided to throw the fly rod again. Well I am happy that I did. I got my first redfish on fly. It was a nice middle slot fish that pulled a little better than the small bluefish that I was catching the other day. I am hooked and I have a fly lesson this evening and I just purchased 2 new fly rod and reels. What a blast

Fun fishing w/ the family

I had the day off today and I have a busy week ahead so Laura, Finn and I went out for a little boat ride. I am trying to make sure that we go out on these nice days because Laura is a fair weather boater. We were able to get Finn on a nice flounder, a bunch of blackdrum and a nice redfish. Not to bad for a little over an hour of fishing. I am also teaching Finn to drive the boat that way he can pull it up on the trailer back at the ramp.

Fun Fishing 1-7-2012 w/ Rich Santos

Today I took a friend who is a guide in Jacksonville out fishing. We had set it up to do a little fly fishing. I have had a fly rod for a while but never really used it or knew much about how to  use it. Rich took some time to show me the basics of casting. It ended up being much windier than they had called for. Rich was able to pick up 2 nice middle slot redfish on fly and I caught my first fish on fly which was a little bluefish. I will have to take some of my new found knowledge and my new flies and see if I can get some more fish on fly. Rich caught his reds on a fly that he ties called an hd clouser that he makes for Black Fly in Jacksonville. I was lucky enough to have him give me a few to use . Thanks Rich I think I am hooked.

Charter 12-31-2011 w/ Bill and his 2 sons

Today I took Bill and his 2 sons out for a half day trip. What a fun day of fishing.Second cast of the day was a nice keeper redfish. It slowed down a little after that. We could see the redfish but they did not want to play today. So we moved to a different spot and that was what we needed. It was great watching these two guys fight some really nice redfish. They handled them like pros. Bill even got in on the action and got a nice sheephead and some redfish as well. I am sure William will remember this birthday.

Charter 12-28-2011 w/ Bill and his son Eric

What a fun day of fishing. I took Bill and his son Eric out this morning. What a nice day for the last week of the year. The fish were biting and the weather was pretty nice. Eric had the hot hand for most of the trip. He caught a ton of species with some nice redfish, big black drum, and a few huge sand trout in the mix. Well his dad was not happy and showed it for the last part of the trip. He was putting keeper after keeper redfish on the boat to end the day. I am glad the two of them had a great day.
