Charter 3-23-2011 w/ Mark and his son Daniel

I had Mark and his son Daniel out again today. After catching a ton of smaller redfish and trout yesterday I decided to get them on some sight fished big redfish. It was still pretty windy today but we were able to locate some nice schools of redfish. We probably had 15 plus redfish today with a few double hook-ups. It was great to show them how strong the upper slot redfish are the biggest redfish was caught by Mark and it was a stud . It was just under 27" and it was had a huge girth on him. After a great fight we let him on his way to make some baby redfish. After the redfish we went and caught some trout. We were catching trout as quick as you could trow your hook in the water. It was a double hook up every cast. I had mark throwing a Zman plastic shrimp and Daniel was using mud minnows. It was a blast. I will be seeing them next week for one more trip before they have to head back up north. With the weather in the 80's and the fishing this good there is no reason to not be out fishing. Get out the and catch something.

Charter 3-22-2011 w/ Mark and his two children

What a great afternoon of fishing. I got a call today asking if I could run a last minute trip today. I said I could squeeze in a 3 hour trip before sunset. It was very windy from the south. We tried a few spots with a little success. After the third spot we were able to locate the fish. It was one of the lowest tides that I have seen in a long time. We power poled down and stayed on the fish for the next two hours. Every now and then we would have to move the boat 50-100 feet down the shore line. There were fish everywhere. There were redfish and black drum crushing the bait on the shoreline. We had a ton of redfish, trout, some nice blackdrum and a 15" flounder in a short while. As long as you could get your bait within a foot of the shore it was fish on. They had a bunch of double hook-ups.You will be seeing Mark and Daniel for a few posts in the next week. What a blast to take these guys fishing. Also, look at the spotless redfish that Daniel caught!

What a beautiful spring day. It was a little windy but it was warm. We caught a ton of smaller redfish and trout today. We had a good mixed bag of keepers including redfish, trout, and sheephead. It was a little harder bite than it had been but we ended up with some solid fish through out the day.

Charter 3-18-2011 with Dave and his father-in-law

What a day of fishing. Spring time is here and the fishing is on fire! We had the "supermoon: on Saturday and a huge tide to go with it. I started the day catching a ton of trout on the higher water. Then at 11:00 I went and picked up my two clients for the day. We went looking for some redfish as the tide started dropping. First hole, first cast we have a fish on. After a ten minute fight we have a fat over size redfish in the boat. After a few pictures we throw in the hole and are rewarded with another instant hook up. We stayed there until they were tired of catching redfish. We caught around a dozen and missed more than that. The redfish were between 24" and 30". We then went looking for some trout but we could only find more redfish. We caught a ton of redfish for the day. Look for the fishing to stay this way for the next few months as everything is feeding on all of the new bait fish. Hope to see you soon.

3-15-2011 Charter w/ John, Dean and Jordan

I had a half day trip with a great client of mine, John. He brought along Dean and Dean's daughter that was on spring break. We got a little late start to the day so top water was out of the question. We started out throwing some jigs and corks and picked up a few trout. We then decided to go look for some redfish. We started out catching a bunch of smaller redfish. After we had

enough of the smaller redfish it was time to go look for some larger fish. As i kickered up to where there big school has been hanging out I had Dean throw first. As his minnow landed he had a fish on and the entire water around his fish went crazy. There was a bunch of fish with his 24" redfish. After we landed his fish it was Jordan's turn. I poled the boat within range of the waking school and she had a great cast and was hooked up to a nice 26" redfish. She did excellent landing this fish on 10 pound test. " I can't wait until I get to see the video her dad took of the fight." The fish was doing his best to break her off but she succeeded in landing her biggest redfish. It was now Johns turn but unfortunately the fish took the minnow off of the hook. Dean threw in front of the school and had another nice middle slot redfish. We ended the day with a sheephead and a nice over size redfish. Dean had the hot hand today but everybody caught some great fish. I hope Jordan had a great spring break.

2-27-2011 New boat pictures

I was finally able to take some pictures of the new boat. It is a dragonfly boatworks. The model is a grand slam. She is loaded with all the bells and whistles from an 8 foot power pole in the back to a removable custom casting platform in the front I can accommodate 3 anglers plus me comfortably. It has a draft of 8 " and is super stable. It is an extremely dry and comfortable ride as well. Feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions that you might have about the boat. I hope to see everyone on the water soon.

2-26-2011 Solo fishing trip

Wow, what a day on the water. It was as slick as glass on the water this morning. I started out blind casting to some drop offs. I caught some where around a dozen smaller trout on top-water lures. As i was moving along you could see redfish tossing mullet in the air from 100's of feet away. I slowly made my way to the redfish pushing huge wakes and dropped the power-pole down. I tossed my top-water lure about twenty feet past the fish and started slowly walking the dog towards the fish. He made a huge blow up and was hooked. I caught a 25", a 23" and a 28" redfish all on top-water within 20 minutes. It was awsome watching these redfish make numerous strikes at the lure and finally get a hook into them. As soon as the sun came out the top-water bite was finished. I moved to some deeper drops and picked up 3 upper slot redfish ans one 32" redfish as well. Decided to move a little farther north with the rising tide and hooked one more 28" before calling it a day. I moved around just checking some places that I had not been to since last year and the fish were fired up. Spring is hear. Oh how I love towater redfish!

2-23-2011 fishing with Bart

I was wanting to try out the new boat and had 45 minutes before dark left. We put the boat in the water and headed north. we had 25 minutes of fishing time and it was very windy and foggy. Within 5 minutes we had a nice middle slot redfish, 2 keeper black drum and a short redfish. The boat performed awsome and we were rewarded with a good sunset bite
