I had Walt and his two sons again this week. What a fun group to fish with. I also had them on Monday and will have them again on Friday. I still need to download the pictures from Mondays trip off of my phone. Well today started out freezing for this time of year. It was in the mid fifties this morning. The group was not to fond of waking up early so we started out the trip at 8 today. Immediately we were able to locate some lady fish. After catching a bunch of those it was time to go look for some other species. We got a nice 23" redfish as well as a really nice over size redfish. We were able to locate a few smaller keeper flounder as well. Once that bite slowed down and the water started dropping I knew we could locate something else to make there rods bend. We found a great school of some big bluefish with a 20"trout and a 18" flounder in the middle of them. These guys are hilarious and always joking with each other and me. I think They enjoyed them selves again but the pressure is on to keep them on a bite. If we go for a little while without a bite they let me know so I will have my work cut out for me on Friday. I am looking forward to seeing them. I was able to get them there at 6 a.m. so I better get them on a quick bite.

Charter 5-17-2011 With Clark
Wow, what a tuff day on the water. We had a full moon last night and they winds were up to 28 m.p.h. We were still able to find a few fish. We had to work for everything that we caught today, but we were able to get a big over-size redfish on some light tackle. It started to get us to the backing so we had to pull anchor and chase her down. What a great fight on 10 pound test. We were able to pick up some other redfish, trout, flounder and bluefish.
Charter 5-11-2011 with Max, Ron and Ben
Another Great day of fishing. My clients were hoping to catch some redfish and that they did. We started out getting a little practice on some smaller redfish and trout. We also had some big blow ups on top water but we were unable to get a hook into any. After moving around a little we went onto a flat to do a little sight-fishing. We were able to see some over size redfish with there backs out of the water and a big school push away from us as we were polling down the flat but they were unable to get the lucky cast near the fish. So after a little while I decided to go and get a few that were a little easier to cast to. Well they were hungry we were catch redfish on just about every cast. Some were under size. Some were slots and some were over-size. We stayed there until they were ready to call in a day. What a fun day.
Charter 5-10-2011 w/ Dave, His son Sasha and Uncle Bob
I had a good friend of mine out for an afternoon of fishing with his son Sasha and his Uncle Bob. We caught some really fun fish. Sasha was not to much into the fishing but really loved to go fast so we did a decent amount of driving around. We caught a really nice 4 pound flounder on the flats in the morning on a mud minnow. We then caught some nice redfish with one over-size throw in the mix. It is always a great time when Bob comes in town and I was happy I could get him his flounder that he has come accustom to catching.

Check out the May issue of Sport Fishing Magazine
Yours truly has a picture in this months issue of Sport Fishing Magazine. I am featured in an article about a great product called ZMan baits. They are a lure company from South Carolina. They make some killer scented and unscented soft plastic baits. Unlike the Berkley gulp you can throw these baits all day and when you are done you can throw them back in the bag and use them next time. They do not shrink up and the can stretch for over a mile. My son Finn loves playing with the shrimpZ. Give them a try and I know you will love them. There web site is http://www.zmanfishing.com/

5-1-2011 charter with BJ, Eric and Andrew
I had a fun trip today. I had three younger people from Gainsville today. I started the trip a little later because the only fish that have been caught on the higher water has been trout. I went out at sunrise to do a little fun fishing by myself and i caught 13 trout but no redfish. Well the water was dropping and it was time to start out my trip. I started off going to a spot to get them used to throwing the reels and catching the fish. Well after catching a bunch of smaller redfish and bluefish it was time to go get some big guys. Today was one of the busiest days with boats that I have seen all year. We headed north and into some small creeks and there were still boats everywhere. Well the fish did not seem to mind. We would let the boats go by and throw in there wakes and still catch upper slot redfish. Bj had the hot hand today. She was catching fish left and right. She had on a big fish that was throwing me for a look. I can usually tell what type of fish is on the line by the way that they fight. This fish was fighting strong and low without any big runs. Well it ended up being a 25"redfish that was missing most of its tail. It had got ate off at some point of his life. We ended up getting a bunch of really nice upper slot redfish and quite a few different species as well. Well now it was time to go catch some over size fish. We were able to get 2 big redfish today as well. What a fun day on the water and again I was able to put all of them on there biggest fish ever. I love being able to do that. What a memory of not being able to control the fish and watching this monster finally come up from the water . We were able to get some great pictures and get them back in the water quickly so that they can make more redfish for us in the future. Keep an eye out as the redfish will only be getting bigger as the summer gets going.
4-28-2011 Charter with Tim and his nephew Kyle
Whatanother great day on the water. Tim is a regular client of mine that comes out a few times a month when he is down from New York. He was able to bring his nephew down while he was on spring break. I was hopping to get them on some cobia but the seas were still to ruff for us. Well Kyles biggest fish ever was a small mouth bass. I was pretty sure that we would be able to top that today. I was also going to try to get him on as many different species that I could. I can not remember how many different species he caught but I do know he said that he caught 13 fish today. I am pretty sure that he caught redfish, blackdrum, flounder, bluefish, jacks, sharks, wrase, trout, and ladyfish. I know that his biggest fish now is a redfish and that he lost his biggest fish ever as well. He had on a bull redfish for a little while but the fish was able to break him off in the rocks. Well Tim has not been out with me when the bull redfish were biting yet. So after catching some great fish out in the creeks we decided it was time to get him his largest redfish to date. After Kyle missed his big fish it was Tim's turn at the next one. It wasn't long and Tim's pole was doubled over. It was his biggest redfish to date. It was on a smaller pole so we only got a quick picture and got him back in the water quickly. The fish was somewhere in the mid 30's. Well it was his biggest redfish to date and not to big where I know I will be able to get him a bigger one next time.
4-26-2011 Charter with John
I had John and Frank out today for a half day trip. What a fun day on the water. John fishes all over the state on guided trips so I always have a little pressure on me to make sure I get him on some fish in his home waters. Well today was his day. We started the day throwing to some big redfish with half of there bodies out of the water. We had a few smaller ones but the big ones would actually swim around our baits. Man that will make you crazy. We tried straight hooks, jig heads popping corks and carolina rigs with every kind of bait imaginable. We did manage a few big explosions on the top water zara spook jr. but did not have any hook ups. Well after chasing these fish for almost an hour it was time to go actually put a hook in something that pulled some drag. Well that we did. We got on a great bite of over size and upper slot redfish. We also put some trout, flounder, sharks, and jacks into the boat. As always John was the one putting the hooks into the fish today. I will give those Lagoon and Tamps guys a run for there money on the redfish.
