I had Daniel and Ty out for a half day trip this morning. We started out throwing some top-water lures. We had a few big blow ups and one nice trout jumped a foot out of the water but we were unable to get any hooks in the fish. Once the sun got a little higher we decided to go onto some flats were
I knew some nice redfish would be hanging out. Ty was the first one to get a hit. The fish was slowly running at the boat and I told him to reel fast and the fish would keep on running past the boat. Well the fish swam to the boat and was already tired. It ended up only being a 16" redfish. It was his first redfish. I was surprised that the little guys was hanging where his dad was. I knew there were other fish over there so I had him cast back up there. In a few minutes he was hooked up. Now this was the fish we were looking for. After a 15 minute fight and almost getting the fish near the boat he took another big run and broke threw the leader. Can't catch them all. Ty threw back up in there again. This time the fish hit a top-water lure and was screamimg drag. He managed to get the nice 25" redfish to the boat. Daniel managed to get his first redfish, first trout and first flounder which gave him his first North East slam. Great job!!
